Jennifer and I bought some pumpkins for carving before Halloween in 2021. We bought the pumpkins on a Saturday (23 Oct), carved them on Sunday (24 Oct) and they were in the compost by Wednesday, 27 Oct. They just don’t last long here in the Hawai’i heat. We had a wonderful time enjoying each other’s company and the act of carving but that the pumpkins molded and got mushy so fast is incredibly saddening.
A few days later while Jen was watching a new series and the show happened to be around Halloween time, one of the main character’s kids argued that “Pumpkin carving is kid stuff” so refused to participate with his single dad who just wanted to spend some time with him. I felt so attacked by that statement. Jen and I must be giant kids because we enjoy that kid stuff!
